Sun Belt Preview

Game of the Week

MTSU (1-1) at Maryland (1-1)

Well there is one thing for certain, QB Dwight Dasher will have the ball in his hands for nearly the entire game.  The Blue Raiders playmaker is 38 of 68 for 435 yards, 3 TDs, and 3 INTs.  Those numbers are solid, but when backed up by 36 carries for 150 yards, they suddenly become tough to beat.  Last season, Dasher led the MTSU to an huge upset victory over the Terrapins in Tennessee.  This year may be at a different location, but MTSU has returned many of the same players and showed last week against Memphis just how powerful their offense can be.  When Dasher isn't carrying the ball he'll be handing off to RB Phillip Turner who has less than half the number of carries of Dasher (16 carries, 83 yards, 1TD).  The big man down field is WR Shane Blissard (6'5) who has 6 receptions and 114 yards.  MTSU's biggest concern will be finding a way to keep Maryland from keying on Dasher.  With an offense that relies heavily on the play of one player, play selection will be critical.

Maryland's defense has been lack luster in the first two weeks of the season.  LB Adrian Moten is the leader of the defensive unit and will have to prove he can keep pace with Dasher if the Terrapins want to stay in this game.  As with any spread style offense, quarterback pressure and containment will determine success.
